Everything is Reiki.
Reiki refers to the universal life force energy that flows through all living things. According to the Reiki tradition, when energy is out of balance, it does not flow as freely throughout the body. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive Japanese energy practice that aims to encourage the natural flow of energy.
People come to Reiki for many different reasons. Some are looking for a way to slow down and deeply relax, while others turn to Reiki during periods of stress, change, emotional overwhelm, or simply when they feel the need to reconnect with themselves.
A session offers dedicated time to step away from the demands of everyday life and settle into a quiet, restorative space. People often describe feeling deeply relaxed, calmer, lighter, or more centered afterward, with a greater sense of clarity and emotional balance that can carry into the rest of their day.
What to Expect During a Reiki Session
What happens during a session?
We begin with a short conversation about how you are feeling and, if you wish, an intention for the session. You remain fully clothed and can lie comfortably on the treatment table. In a quiet setting with soft music, I work with the body's energy field using gentle, light touch or no touch, according to your preference.
What might I feel?
Every experience is different. Some people notice warmth or coolness, tingling, heaviness or lightness, or restlessness in the limbs. You may see colors or images. Most experience a deep sense of calm and relaxation. There is no particular sensation you are expected to feel.
How should I prepare?
Wear comfortable clothing and avoid a heavy meal shortly before your session. You may also prefer to limit coffee, sugar, and alcohol beforehand. Afterward, stay well hydrated and, if possible, give yourself a little quiet time before returning to your day. You may find that the experience of the session continues to unfold afterward, so simply notice how you feel.
Will every Reiki session feel the same?
Each session is unique, and your experience may be different each time depending on how you are feeling that day. Reiki is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and allow the experience to unfold naturally.
How many Reiki sessions should I have?
A single Reiki session can offer a valuable opportunity to relax and reconnect. Depending on what brings you to Reiki, you may choose to have several sessions over time. Within the Reiki tradition, each session is viewed as part of an evolving process. There is no required number of sessions — we can discuss what feels appropriate for you.
